Students Expose Rabid Lies of U.Chicago Faculty Bigot

In a previous post, we had exposed FOIL/FOSA anarchist  M. Nussbaum's ghoulish U. Chicago science: where sleeping passengers on an express train were claimed to have burned themselves to death, and deserved to die because someone had an argument with someone else at some other station.

Now this is from India Abroad, June 8th 2007, page A3, received by email from a subscriber: I must say that these kids are so commendably restrained in their response. A swift comparison of Nussbaum's rabid rantings with the polite, matter-of-fact response of the HSC shows very clearly where the ghoulish bigoted lying is.
--------------

This refers to the interview with Martha Nussbaum (India Abroad. April 27). We thank
Nussbaum for recognizing the The Hindu Students Council as a strong and large
organization. Yet. in the same breath, without any supporting evidence, she opines:
"HSC is a problematic organization." For a professor of religion in  a multi-cultural
society, this is unfortunate.

The HSC's contribution towards the greater understanding of Hindu heritage and
philosophy by the new generation of Americans is and will continue to be a matter of
pride for future generations. The HSC has over 80 chapters in the US and Canada and
several affiliated groups in Europe, and other continents. It has organized
innumerable camps, seminars and conferences in it's 17 years of existence. Over
150,000 students have received first-hand experience of Hindu heritage through HSC.
Each year, more than 5,000 youth participate in HSC activities ranging from
discussions to celebration of festivals to culturaI events to yoga, dance and music.

The HSC believes in service (seva) and organizes various activties to help the needy.
Every day, HSC is involved in the process of providing support and resources that
enable students to lead a healthy, non-violent, drug-free, law-abiding life. The HSC
creates leaders inspired by Hindu philosophies, who want to make the world better.
Thus, one of our key vision statements: Sarve Api Sukhina Santu, Sarve Santu Niramaya
(Let everyone be happy, healthy and blessed). The HSC’s success in cultivating Hindu
spiritual values in college students has been well documented.

The HSC’s origins and history are public knowledge. The HSC was and is always run by
its members who are guided by the principles of Dharma and freedom of thought and
expression. We, as a minority community organization, take pride in our achievements.

In the true spirit of the seers and sages of Hindu tradition, the HSC identifies with
Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the entire world is  one family). The HSC is a family where
learning about Hindu heritage and living by Hindu ideals to attain one’s full
potential is the goal).

The HSC is the first campus-wide youth organization to take up a project (in 1997) to
educate the world about India’s literary, philosophical, spritual, mathematical and
scientific contributions to the world.

We don’t know the source of Nussbaum’s bias. It appears that she has overlooked the
immense amount of public information on the HSC, hasn't consulted any major HIndu
organizations, temple or center and has not attended various HSC programs.

On a last note, the article describes Dr Ved Nanda as an adviser to HSC. Dr Nanda is
a distinguished scholar and well-reputed community leader. But he was never an
official adviser to the national body of the HSC.

Nikunj Trivedi,
President, HSC

Ari notes: Dr. Nanda is the
Vice Provost for Internationalization, the  Thompson G. Marsh Professor of Law, and the John Evans University Professor at the University of Denver. He is the Director of the International Legal Studies Program. He has decades of well-reputed achievement.

Credentials that a loser like Nussbaum, who is best dscribed as a disgrace even by the standards of  a place like U. Chicago that employs porn-peddlers on its faculty, can only bark and howl at.
